Silicone-based formulation comprising a silicone resin, metallic alkoxide and functional additive, useful as a coating for textile materials

The invention describes a liquid silicone formulation which is cross-linkable and can be used for coating textile fibres to impart permanent properties such as softness, water and oil resistance etc. Use of a silicone formulation as coating base for a textile material to allow (1) cross-linking around the individual fibres or filaments to give protection , independent of the nature of the material and not necessitating anchorage points; (2) forming a protective sheath around the material and conferring excellent resistance to aggressive agents; (3) enabling supplementary specific functionalities to give coatings with properties such as softness, hydrophobicity, oleophobicity, hydrophilicity and anti-static properties; and (4) enabling deposition operations at any point of the process of preparation, and/or renovation and/or maintenance of the natural and/or synthetic textile material.
