The process involves defining a zone to be zoomed by its characteristics of location, size, and additional resolution, in a digital image. The characteristics of location, size, and resolution of the zone to be zoomed are written in a file. The functions of navigation management in the image are also written in the same file. The image is compressed and the compresses data is stored in another file. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a process of reading file (b) a device for treating a digital image.
