The system has a series of users (16, 18, 20) connected to a server (28) via Internet (10) and Intranet (12), and a user (22) able to initialize denial of service attack. A fire wall (14), router (24), and probe (32) detect abnormal operating conditions based on the system operation defined by pre-set parameters, and send detected messages to a network security manager (30). The manager then activates filtering actions on message reception. An independent claim is also included for a process for protecting a data transmission system against an attack of service denial.
