The method involves lighting up a lightened zone (17) on a free surface (4) of honeycomb structure (1) by a light source (15) to illuminate the interior of cells (5) opening in the lightened zone. Emerging light (21) reflected from the cells is detected in an observed zone (22). Opening (6) in the cells (5) is detected in a photographed zone (32) located in front of the observed zone. An independent claim is also included for an instrument for controlling bond of a perforated core of a honeycomb structure.
