A method of allocating predefined memory for a task including a permanent memory component and a transient memory component

Methods for allocating memory for a task in a computer-implemented system and for performing a remote procedure call from a source task in a source cell to a target task in a target cell. Predefined memory requirements are provided for a task, including permanent and transient memory components, the latter being accessible to the task only during execution. The task is executed only when memory space available to the task at least meets certain requirements. The task is prevented from allocating an additional memory space that exceeds the requirements. Upon completing execution, a portion of the memory space corresponding to the transient memory component is released. In another aspect, an input message indicating a portion of the memory space associated with the source task is sent from a source task to a target task. The portion of the memory space is inaccessible to the source task during the execution of the target task. In response to receiving the input message from the source task, the target task is executed. Upon completing execution of the target task, the portion of the memory space is released and is accessible to the source task.
