PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid Lewis acid catalyst which is industrially useful and capable of being used under a non-solvent condition, its manufacturing method and various reactions using it. PSOLUTION: The solid Lewis acid catalyst represented by general formula (1): RSB1/SB-(SOSB3/SB)SBn/SBMSBm/SBHSBa/SB(ORSB2/SB)SBb/SBis obtained by reacting an aromatic multivalent sulfonic acid with a trivalent metal alkoxide. A hetero Diels-Alder reaction, a ring-opening reaction of an epoxy compound with an amine or the like is carried out by using the catalyst to obtain a pharmaceutically or agriculturally useful compound. In the above formula, RSB1/SBrepresents a 4C-30C aromatic hydrocarbon, RSB2/SBrepresents a 1C-6C straight-chain/branched/ring alkyl group, M is a trivalent metal ion, n is an integer of 2 or 3, and m satisfies m=0.2n to 1.0n. If (n-3m) is positive, a=(n-3m) and b=0 are satisfied, if (n-3m) is negative, a=0 and b=(3m-n) are satisfied, and if n=3m is satisfied, a=b=0 is satisfied. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
