PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound capable of forming an addition polymerization catalyst component which exhibits a high polymerization activity when used as an activation cocatalyst component, an addition polymerization catalyst component composed of the compound, an addition polymerization catalyst which is obtained by using the compound and exhibits a high polymerization activity, and an efficient method for manufacturing an addition polymer which uses the addition polymerization catalyst.;SOLUTION: The compound (A) is obtained by bringing (a) M1L13 (wherein M1 is a group 13 atom; and L1 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon group or a halogen) into contact with (b) R1OH (wherein R1 is a halogenated alkyl group) and (c) R2t-2TH2 (wherein R2 is a hydrocarbon group or a halogenated hydrocarbon group;: T is a group 15 or 16 nonmetallic atom; and t is a valence of T). The addition polymerization catalyst component is composed of the compound. The addition polymerization catalyst is obtained by bringing the compound (A) into contact with a transition metal compound (B).
