PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation method for hydrogen isotope and a separation apparatus of hydrogen isotope capable of enhancing the separation performance of hydrogen isotope utilizing a hydrogen-water chemical exchange reaction. PSOLUTION: An atmosphere comprising hydrogen gas, water and water vapor that contain hydrogen isotope is introduced into separation columns 11, 12 under a prescribed reduced pressure. Process temperature for the atmosphere is controlled in accordance with the pressure in the atmosphere, and partial pressures of the hydrogen gas and that of the water vapor in the atmosphere are controlled and the separation performance of the hydrogen isotope from the hydrogen gas through the hydrogen-water chemical exchange reaction is controlled.
