PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and in a short time manufacturing a monopolarized lithium tantalate crystal capable of rapidly erasing the surface electric charge generated by pyroelectricity by improving conductivity and to provide the monopolarized lithium tantalate crystal.;SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the lithium tantalate crystal, the monopolarized lithium tantalate crystal in which an absorption coefficient of a light of 3,480 cm-1 frequency is ≤ 0.3 cm-1 is at least heat treated at a temperature of ≥ 250°C and not more than the Qurie temperature in a reducing atmosphere. In the monopolarized lithium tantalate crystal, the absorption coefficient of the light of 3,480 cm-1 frequency is ≤ 0.3 cm-1 and an electric conductivity is ≥ 1×10-12Ω-1× cm-1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
