PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a steering property by reducing dispersion and variation of ground load of a drive wheel and stabilizing an assist force.;SOLUTION: A drive wheel 1 driven by an electric motor 12 is installed at bottom of a body frame 1. The drive wheel 11 and the electric motor 12 are supported by a motor base 18, and the motor base 18 is connected with an elevating actuator 13 via a compression coil spring 23. The drive wheel 11 can be contacted/separated with/from a floor 31 by the elevating actuator 13. When the drive wheel 1 is made to approach to the floor 31 during rotation and its rotation speed is lower than a ground judging speed, it is judged that the drive wheel 11 contacts the floor 31 so that the electric motor 12 is stopped, and at that time, the elevating actuator 13 is actuated by a predetermined stroke. Thereby, the compression spring 23 is compressed by a predetermined volume, and the drive wheel 11 is brought into press contact with the floor 31 by its reaction force.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
