PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction type water intake machine for a coating material sludge recovering apparatus making it possible to recover the coating material sludge stably and efficiently, thereby enhance raw water cleaning action and utilize raw water circulatively.;SOLUTION: This suction type water intake machine 1 for the coating material sludge recovering apparatus is composed of a suction body 2 which sucks floated coating material sludge together with raw water, a variable water level follower 3 which allows the suction body 2 to follow the level of the raw water containing the coating material sludge suspended therein or floated thereon, a separator 4 which catches impure waste and coating material sludge, or the like, and recovers the coating material sludge, or the like, from the sucked raw water and a feeder 5 which feeds the coating material sludge, or the like, to the coating material sludge recovering apparatus together with separated raw water.
