PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine diagnosis method using an ionized current signal, having reduced cost by allowing data sampling at a rate lower than that in a known engine diagnosis system.;SOLUTION: The method including the engine diagnosis method and a routine uses the ionized signal to carry out the engine diagnosis routine. The method comprises steps of detecting the ionized signal, of integrating the ionized signal over a first sampling window to create a first integrated ionized value, of detecting the peak of the ionized signal over the first sampling window to create a first peak ionized value, of integrating the ionized signal over a second sampling window to create a second integrated ionized value, of detecting the peak of the ionized signal over the second sampling window to create a second peak ionized value, of using the ionized signal to diagnose an engine.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
