PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for controlling insect pest of chestnut fruit in which larvae and eggs of insect pests hidden in the interior of fruit can be killed without impairing the quality of chestnut fruit by immersing harvested chestnut fruit in warm water and completely abolishing the use of chemicals such as methyl bromide.;SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for controlling the chestnut fruit comprises killing larvae and eggs of insect pests hidden in the interior of the fruit by immersing the harvested chestnut fruit in warm water. The apparatus 1 for controlling the chestnut fruit is constituted of a tank 2 for storing warm water and a water-warming machine 3 equipped with a temperature control function kept at a set temperature while circulating warm water in the tank 2.
