PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a firing setter with which the thermal stress and the difference of firing shrinkage of a ceramic honeycomb particularly having a thin wall, a high opening ratio and a large honeycomb volume are reduced to suppress defects such as the break of an edge surface, a rib or the vertical break of an outside wall and an industrial mass-production is carried out in a high yield and a method of firng the ceramic honeycomb.;SOLUTION: A space communicating with the outside is provided between the firing setter and a shelf board and/or the firing setter and a honeycomb formed body by a recessed part integrally arranged on the opposed surface of the shelf board and/or on the opposed surface of the honeycomb formed body and the contact surface of the firing setter with the shelf board and/or the contact surface of the firing setter with the honeycomb formed body is 30-88% of a surface area of the opposed surface of the firing surface to the shelf board and/or the opposed surface of the firing setter to the honeycomb formed body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
