PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate controller which enables more accurate monitoring of an excessive motion in a gate protecting system for a water reservoir such as a dam.;SOLUTION: This gate controller, which comprises a control means for providing instructions on a gate operation and a storage means for storing gate limit time, provides instructions to stop a gate motion when motion time of a dam gate corresponds to or exceeds a stored gate limit, and updates the stored gate limit time in accordance with the motion time of the gate and a gate opening variation depending on the motion time thereof. Otherwise, the gate controller provides the instruction on the gate operation, stores the gate limit time, updates the stored gate limit time in accordance with the motion time of the gate and the gate opening variation depending on the motion time thereof, and provides the instructions to stop the gate motion when the motion time of the dam gate corresponds to or exceeds the stored gate limit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
