PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize partial high luminance emission display without raising momentary emission luminance and impressed current.;SOLUTION: In an organic EL panel 11, light emitting elements are formed at each intersection of a plurality of anode rays and cathode rays arranged like a matrix, a control circuit 13 provides desired signal lines (anode rays) with a current signal from a column driver 12b while periodically scanning scanning lines (cathode rays) through a row driver 12a and emits the light emitting elements formed at intersection points. The control circuit 13 performs control for relatively extending scanning period about a scanning line in which a light emitting element for drive exists by reducing the number of scanning lines per one scanning period by prohibiting scanning about a scanning line in which the light emitting element does not exist when there is the scanning line in which the light emitting element of for drive does not exist in one scanning period of the scanning lines and thus, performs the high luminance emission display without raising the impressed current.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
