PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector as a portable device for quickly detecting SOFSB2/SB, SFSB4/SBand SOSB2/SBin an electric facility and air containing an SFSB6/SBgas e.g. an on-site gas detector for sulfur hexafluoride (SFSB6/SB) gas decomposition material, especially intended to thionyl fluoride (SOFSB2/SB) and sulfur dioxide (SOSB2/SB). PSOLUTION: A detection apparatus for the SFSB6/SBgas decomposition material is provided with an inlet (a) for receiving the SFSB6/SBgas containing the SOFSB2/SBor the SFSB4/SB, a chamber (b) connected to the inlet and involving a catalyst for converting the SOFSB2/SBor the SFSB4/SBinto the SOSB2/SB, and a SOSB2/SBdetector (c) connected to the downstream side of the chamber.
