PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance when driving start is required though a lamp is not connected.;SOLUTION: A driving circuit of a dielectric barrier discharge lamp is constructed in such a manner that at least a test power pulse set extremely small is applied to a transformer so that a switching transistor will not be broken at the new starting time of lamp driving, wherein an over voltage protection circuit responds to a voltage generated by the switching transistor through the test power pulse when the lamp is not connected thereto, and does not respond when the lamp is connected thereto.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
