PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently guide emission in a required direction, form in various shapes, easily manufacture in a rigid structure and facilitate handling. ;SOLUTION: A dielectric barrier discharge lamp has plural counter electrodes 1b on the surface of aninsulating base 1a and stored in a discharge chamber, in which excimer generated gas is guided by using a discharging body 1 covered with a dielectric film 1c and an emission guide window provided in the discharge chamber in opposition to the counter electrodes for the discharging body. Excimer emission is provided uniformly from the whole area, where the counter electrodes for the discharging body are formed, and guided from the emission guide window to the outside at it is. The excimer generated gas can be of a supply type or a sealed type. A dielectric barrier discharge lamp device is composed of the dielectric barrier discharge lamp and a high frequency generating means. For an ultraviolet irradiation device, the dielectric barrier discharge lamp of an excimer generated gas supply type is used to apply ultraviolet ray while guiding inert gas into an ultraviolet radiation chamber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
