PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clause boundary detecting device for detecting a clause boundary only form local information in Japanese utterance. PSOLUTION: A clause boundary detecting device 30 for detecting the clause boundary of an original text from a morphemic string acquired by executing morphemic analysis to a text is provided with a detection processing part 148 for detecting the pattern of the arrangement of predetermined morphemes in the morphemic string and a replacement processing part 154 for executing processing to replace the arrangement of the morphemes in the detected pattern in the morphemic string with the arrangement of the morphemes whose tail is added with a clause label showing the clause boundary in response to the detection of the pattern, and for outputting the morphemic string.
