PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic book distributing system for preventing the generation of inconvenience between data porting and copyright protection. PSOLUTION: Terminal unique information is embedded in electronic books, and distributed as use limit information for limiting the simultaneous use of the same data. When data are ported to another terminal after downloaded, the data are written into the terminal unique information of the porting destination so as to be ported (S724). After the data are ported, the original data are erased (S726, S728). Before starting the user use of the electronic books, the terminal confirms whether or not the user is authorized to use the electronic books by referring to the terminal unique information, and permits the user to use the electronic books under a condition that the user use is permitted (S714, S824). As long as the simultaneous use of the electronic books does not happen, even a valid user who has downloaded the electronic books is able to browse the electronic books. The number of terminals at which even the valid user is able to browse the electronic books at that point of time is limited to one, and the simultaneous browsing of the electronic books by a plurality of users at different terminals is inhibited.
