PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and a map display system for displaying a map capable of displaying a map in a direction easy for a user to see when displaying, based on the information recorded in a two-dimensional code, map information including the place where the two-dimensional code is located. PSOLUTION: The portable terminal 10 comprises: a two-dimensional code reader 14 to read a two-dimensional code which is located at a specific point and in which positional information of its located point and bearing information of the point against the direction of reading reference of the two-dimensional code is recorded; a display means 18 to display a map; a rotation angle calculating means 121; and a map rotating means 122. The two-dimensional code reader outputs the positional information recorded in the two-dimensional code, the direction of reading reference of the two-dimensional code, and bearing information. The rotation angle calculating means calculates the rotation angle from the direction of reading reference of the two-dimensional code and the bearing information.
