PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera and method for improving an existing image alignment method when taking in a panoramic image. PSOLUTION: A digital camera comprises a processing algorithm (13) for implementing an edge detection filter, and the processing algorithm takes in an image to be used as a part of a panoramic image sequence (61), processes the take-in image using the edge detection filter (62), applies the edge detection filter to a portion of the fetched image overlapping with a following image (63), specifies a threshold by calculating the histogram of a resultant value (64), selects a threshold with which just a part of all image pixels are regarded as the edge of the processed image (65), extracts an image pixel near the edge of the taken-in image (66), and superimposes the pixel on a live view image (67).
