CAN BASE BODY FORMING DEVICE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a can base body forming device that can make a punching part lighter in weight and that can suppress occurrence of damage to this punching part. PSOLUTION: This device, by which a cylindrical can body with a bottom is formed from a cup, is equipped with a punching part 1 which is made movable forward to and backward from the bottom of the cup. The punching part 1 is provided with a sleeve 2 and a shank 3 inserted therein. The sleeve 2 is formed, at the tip end inside, with a first air gap 6 having a larger diameter than a supporting part 5. A fixing nut 4 is screwed onto a male screw part 3a formed at the tip end of the shank 3, so that the shank 3 is fixed inside the sleeve 2. In this structure, one end face 4a of the fixing nut 4 is designed to have a tapered face 4b in which the thickness of the nut 4 is made gradually thinner toward the peripheral edge. The seating face 6a for the nut installation is designed to have a tapered face so as to nearly consistently come into contact with the tapered face 4a of the fixing nut 4.
