PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a (Bi, Pb)-2223 high temperature superconductor single crystal, by which the (Bi, Pb)-2223 single crystal can be manufactured at a high reproducibility with a high yield.;SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the (Bi, Pb)-2223 high temperature superconductor single crystal is characterized by calcining powder obtained by spray drying a mixed liquid of raw materials, containing Bi, Pb, Sr, Ca and Cu, at a temperature at which (Bi, Pb)-2212 and (Bi, Pb)-2201 are not formed, so as to convert the powder into Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu raw material powder, then adding a (Bi, Pb)-2223 seed crystal to a mixture of the Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu raw material powder and a flux, further heating the resulting mixture to form the (Bi, Pb)-2223 high temperature superconductor single crystal, and removing the flux.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
