PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring ground, base rock, etc. wherein small displacements and large displacements of ground etc. are monitored at low cost and with ease.;SOLUTION: Changes in the amount of distortion are displaced by the movements of a mechanically connected pointer 1 in a biasing means 2. A wire 4 is extended over a surface to be monitored 3, such as ground, while initial tension is provided by the biasing means 2.
