摘要

A statistical analysis of well data from the Piedmont and Blue Ridge provinces ofNorth Carolina (Daniel, 1985, 1987) showed that there are certain geologic, topographic, and construction characteristics of wells that can be statistically related to well yield. The analysis also indicated that, by following selected criteria in siting wells, the odds for obtaining greater than average yields were greatly increased. The goal of the study was the development of site-selection procedures suggested by the statistical analysis and earlier studies (LeGrand, 1967) that would improve the odds of drilling wells of above average yield. The procedures would be tested by the selection of well sites, drilling of wells, and careful determination of well yield.
