PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grid modulation type photonic crystal wavelength selection filter in which constitution is made simple and the amount of variation in a transmission center wavelength is made large, and an array type wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer using the filter, and to provide a manufacturing method of the filter and the mutiplexer/demultiplexer.;SOLUTION: By providing a simple constitution in which a cavity section 43 is made by a high refractive index medium layer 44a, the amount of variation in the transmission center wavelength is made equal to or greater than 20 nm from a conventional 10 nm and a small size grid modulation type photonic crystal wavelength selection filter 40 and an array type wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer 80 using the filter 40 are obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
