PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for printing biomolecules on a substrate, using utilizing electrohydraulic phenomenon.;SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is equipped with a capillary, having a spurting outlet capable of spitting a biomolecule solution containing nucleic acid which is selected from a group made up of applied probe DNA, RNA, PNA and LNA, protein which is selected from a group made up of antigen and antibody, and biomolecules which are selected from a group made up of oligopeptides; a substrate which is set under the spurting outlet; a first electrode for forming an electric field which is set on a printer body so as to be disposed along the edge section of the spurting outlet; a second electrode for forming an electric field which is set so as to be separated by a prescribed spacing; and a voltage-applying device which applies AC voltage on the first and second electrodes for forming electric fields, generates an electric force acting on the biomolecule solution from the surrounding of the biomolecule solution, by using interactions existing between the distribution of the electric fields, the biomolecule solution with a free interface and the gradient of atmospheric dielectric constant, and brings the biomolecule solution with a prescribed size, to fall on the target surface of the substrate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
