PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion picture editor and an editing method in which the section of already recorded motion picture data being deleted or corrected with high possibility during edition can be cut or corrected easily at a high rate by detecting that section through motion picture analysis and displaying that information together with the motion picture data during edition.;SOLUTION: The motion picture editor analyzes motion picture data photographed by a photography means. In this regard, luminance distribution, luminance differential value distribution, motion vector distribution, and the like, are determined for each frame and an evaluation value is calculated for each decision item such as "sharp and clear", "movement is little", "variation in movement is little", "not too bright or too dark", or "there is neither much halation nor black collapse" before an NG frame where the evaluation value is lower than a threshold level is detected. An NG candidate section where the NG frame is continuous, for example, is detected for each decision item and displayed on the time axis of GUI together with the motion picture.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
