PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically active maleimide derivative into which a reactive activity site is introduced and its production method, to provide an optically active polymaleimide derivative and its production method, to provide a separating agent comprising an optically active polymaleimide derivative, and to provide a method for separating an optically active compound with the same. PSOLUTION: A separating agent is obtained by asymmetrically anion-polymerizing an optically active maleimide derivative having a carbon-carbon double bond as a reactive activity site with a single or existing optically active maleimide derivative to obtain the optically active polymaleimide derivative into which a reactive activity site is introduced, hydrosilylating the carbon-carbon double bonds of the derivative with trichlorosilane, and then reacting the introduced trichlorosilyl groups with silanol groups on the surface of silica gel to fix the polymaleimide derivative.
