PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FSW (friction stir welding) lap joint having a great fatigue strength and also a welding method of FSW lap joint for forming it.;SOLUTION: The welding method of an FSW lap joint is such that FSW is performed along a joining center line from the welding starting point to the ending point on the joining center line to form the main weld zone. In this method, FSW is performed in the manner receding from the ending point after forming the main weld zone and reaching the ending point of the welding, so that a position deviated from the joining center line is set as the end part of the FSW. Furthermore, a position away from the welding starting point and deviated from the joining center line is set as the beginning part of the FSW, with the FSW performed to reach the welding starting point. Thereafter, FSW is performed along the joining center line to the welding ending point to form the main weld zone. Further, by forming the FSW lap joint by this method, reliability on the fatigue strength of the FSW lap joint is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
