PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for iodine gas sterilization by which sufficient sterilization can be carried out without deteriorating the growth of a seed and seedling article.;SOLUTION: The seed and seedling article is sterilized with the iodine gas. The growth rate after the sterilization with the iodine gas is ≥0.8 based on the growth rate before the sterilization with the iodine gas. Furthermore, the seed and seedling article is any of the following. The pathogenic concentration of the seed and seedling article after the sterilization with the iodine gas is ≤1.0 the critical concentration of the pathogens required for the onset of the seed and seedling article; the sterilization rate is ≥60% or the bacteria carrying rate is ≤80%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
