PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elucidate a protein enhancing the acetic acid tolerance on a gene level, to obtain a microorganism having a high level of acetic acid tolerance and efficiently producing the acetic acid at a high concentration and to provide a method for efficiently producing vinegar at a high acetic acid concentration using the microorganism.;SOLUTION: A protein FALDH is described in the following (A) or (B) and a DNA encodes the protein FALDH. (A) a protein composed of a specific amino acid sequence or (B) a protein composed of an amino acid sequence in which substitution, deletion, insertion, addition or inversion of one or several amino acids is included in the specific amino acid sequence and having a glutathione-dependent type formaldehyde dehydrogenase activity. The microorganism has an amplified number of copies of the DNA in a microorganism cell and the high level of acetic acid tolerance. The method for producing the vinegar is characterized by culturing the microorganism having an alcohol oxidizing ability in the microorganism in a culture medium containing an alcohol and producing and accumulating the acetic acid in the culture medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
