PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water leakage locating system which can suitably realize the detection of the water leakage position in a situation where there is no need to strictly detect leakage water, and to provide a method for locating the water leakage.;SOLUTION: The water leakage locating system includes a sheet-like water-shielding article 2; two electrode groups X, Y disposed through the sheet-like water shielding article 2 and arranged substantially in parallel at the interval of a plurality of linear electrodes; a signal-generating means 3 connected to one of these two electrode groups; and a signal-measuring means 4 connected to the other of these two electrode groups, in such a manner that respective linear electrodes for constituting these two electrode groups X, Y cross each other, in a state of holding the sheet-like water-shielding article 2.
