PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new moisture/gas detecting method and a moisture/gas sensor which utilize an electroluminescence element as a means for detecting the existence of moisture and gas.;SOLUTION: The moisture/gas detecting method detects at least either of the moisture or the gas in an external ambience by dark spots of the organic electroluminescence element 11, and/or detects a concentration of at least either of the moisture and the gas in the external ambience. The organic electroluminescence element 11 is provided with the moisture/gas sensor, is formed on a substrate 12 and is provided with an anode 13, an organic electroluminescence layer 14 and a cathode 15. The organic electroluminescence element 11 or the substrate 12, as a member located on the light picking-up side from the organic electroluminescence layer 14, has translucence with respect to a light having a wavelength emitted outwardly from the organic electroluminescence element 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
