PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure fitting mounting method and a device therefor for ceramic catalyst carrier wound with a non-intumescent mat into an accommodative outer cylinder to constitute part of the exhaust passage, capable of precluding inconvenience such as dislocation, breakage, etc. of the non-intumescent mat at the time of pressure fitting of the catalyst carrier.;SOLUTION: The ceramic catalyst carrier 6 to whose periphery the non-intumescent mat 7 is attached, is subjected to a process such that the whole peripheral surface of the mat 7 is pressed uniformly in the radial direction by a compressive shaping tool 2, whereby the contour is put in a compressive shaping to near the inside surface of the accommodative outer cylinder 8 constituting part of the exhaust passage, and thereupon the catalyst carrier is fitted by pressure into the outer cylinder 8 by a pressure fitting means 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
