PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a titanium oxide photocatalyst responsive even to visible light.;SOLUTION: The titanium oxide photocatalyst functions in oxidation-reduction reaction like a generally known photocatalyst under ultraviolet radiation and can generate an active species of oxygen such as a superoxide anion from oxygen in the lattice of the titanium oxide itself under visible light having a wavelength of at least 470 nm, wherein oxygen in the lattice consumed by the reaction can easily be compensated by the air or by dissolved oxygen in a solution.
