PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument optimal for conducting a biopsy of the hepatic tissue safely even in a case of severe hepatopathy by conducting the hepatic biopsy using the jugular vein approach but not by the conventional percutaneous approach.;SOLUTION: The instrument for conducting the hepatic biopsy is inserted into the internal jugular vein at the neck and reaches the liver via the right hepatic vein. The instrument comprises a longitudinal guide tube 1 having an elbowed front end and a rear end with a guide base having a reverse flow preventing means, a contrast agent infusion tube 2 branched out from the guide base and having the reverse flow preventing means on its rear end, and a suction biopsy needle 3 having an outer needle 31 inserted slidably into the inner cavity of the guide tube 1, an inner needle 34 inserted slidably into the outer needle, and a suction means installed on the base part of the outer and inner needles. The effective length of the guide tube is ≥400 mm and ≤700 mm, and the effective length of the suction biopsy needle is ≥500 mm and ≤800 mm .;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
