PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and stably manufacturing an Mg-Cu composite material used in a hydrogen occluding alloy or the like, and the excellent hydrogen occluding alloy.;SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the Mg-Cu composite material 5 containing Mg and Cu has an intermediate material manufacturing process for manufacturing an intermediate material comprising a laminated sheet constituted by laminating a Mg sheet 1 and a Cu sheet 2 or a green compact obtained by mixing and compacting an Mg powder and a Cu powder and a plasticizing process for applying plasticizing processing to the intermediate material 3 a plurality of times to manufacture an Mg-Cu laminate 4 wherein a plurality of Mg layers 41 and a plurality of Cu layers 42 are alternately laminated. The plasticizing process is preferably performed by cold rolling. This cold rolling is preferably performed by an indirect rolling method for rolling the intermediate material 3 while holding the same between a pair of protective plates 9. In the plasticizing process, a low temperature annealing process for holding the intermediate material 3 to 100-150°C is preferably performed during a plurality of plasticizing processings.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
