PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle image pickup device for a police vehicle capable of picking up and recording image information by adequately changing the image pickup mode according to a patrol situation or the like.;SOLUTION: The on-vehicle image pickup device 1 for a police vehicle comprises an image pickup means 1, an image pickup direction changing means 10b capable of changing the angle of the optical axis of the image pickup means in the horizontal direction and in the vertical direction, a zooming means 10a capable of changing the focal distance of the image pickup means, a traveling condition detection means, and an image recording means 60. When it is determined that the police vehicle is in a stopped state based on the detection signal of the traveling condition detection means, at least one of the angle in the horizontal direction of the image pickup means, the angle in the vertical direction of the image pickup means, and the zooming condition of the image pickup means is changed based on the preset image pickup pattern by using the image pickup direction changing means and/or the zooming means so that the image picked up by the image pickup means is recorded on the image recording means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
