PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact semiconductor multi-wavelength light source capable of simultaneously generating a plurality of wavelength light beams.;SOLUTION: A DBR laser is constituted by arranging bend waveguide areas 102 and 106 on both sides of an active area 201. The output of the DBR laser is outputted through a multi-mode interference coupler 104 and a waveguide 107 for light output. The respective waveguides of the bend waveguide areas 102 and 106 are designed such that they are circular arcuate, the centers are the same and the optical path lengths of one cycle of the respective waveguides are shifted by a prescribed light frequency. Also, a diffraction grating 2 is formed in a circular arcuate shape in the bend waveguide areas 102 and 106 and the pitch of the diffraction grating 2 is increased proportionally to the radius of the bend waveguides. Thus, the plurality of wavelength light beams for which an oscillation wavelength (light frequency) interval is fixed are generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
