PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pyrimidine nucleoside compound from a sugar phosphate and various pyrimidine base derivatives in the presence of cytosine nucleoside phosphorylase.;SOLUTION: A pyrimidine nucleoside compound is produced by reacting, in the presence of an enzyme having cytosine nucleoside phosphorylase activity, a sugar phosphate with a pyrimidine base derivative represented by formula (I) (wherein R1 is amino which may be substituted by an acyl having a 1-3C alkyl or by an 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkyl or thiol; R2 is amino, thiol, hydroxy or H; R3 is a 1-3C alkyl which may be substituted by hydroxy, amino or H; and R4 is hydroxy or H excluding such a case that R1 is amino; R2 is hydroxy; R4 is H; and R3 is a 1-3C alkyl or H).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
