PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an exaggerated topping caused by warping of a card while consumption of electric power is suppressed. PSOLUTION: A method for topping an embossed card 14 performs topping on an embossed part by using a topper apparatus 6 which performs coloring on the embossed part by bringing a heater 90 into press contact with the embossed part of the embossed card 14 on which embossing is engraved through a coloring member 89. In this method, after the heater 90 is elevated to a specified topping temperature, the embossed card 14 or the topper apparatus 6 is moved from a specified waiting position W, and after the embossed card 14 is arranged at a specified topping position T in the topper apparatus 6, the topping is performed by bringing the heater 90 into press contact with the embossed part.
