PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correcting device for appropriately controlling the number of correction bits and correcting an error so that the error correction can be completed in a short period of time and to provide a receiver, an error correcting method and an error correction program. PSOLUTION: An error power calculation part 15 calculates error power of a received signal, an error correction control part 16a specifies the number of correction bits to be subjected to error correction in accordance with the magnitude of the calculated error power, an error detection part 13 detects an error of the received signal, and a correction part 12 performs error correction of the specified number of correction bits when the error detection part 13 determines that there is an error.
