PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display character information on a video image without using an OSD function and to secure the readability of character information at all the time.;SOLUTION: In a pixel converter 6, on the basis of color information distribution near a character display position of a video image, a character color to be displayed is optimized and character information is written back to a video image, so that the character information can be displayed on the video image without using the OSD function, and the readability of the character information can be secured at all the time. Furthermore, on the basis of the color information distribution near the character display position of the video image, a character string is displayed by operating an alpha blend rate of the video image with a backplane color as a character color by a background plane color controller 7, so that the character information can be displayed on the video image without using the OSD function, and the readability of the character information can be secured at all the time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
