PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erosion prevention method of a red soil or the like for reducing a red soil contamination phenomenon making the sea of a beautiful coral reef muddy due to the erosion of the soil from a development site, farm land, US forces exercise site or the like when concentrated heavy rain falls in subtropical islans such as Okinawa, Amami-Oshima Island of Kagoshima, and Ogasawara Islands of Tokyo, and to provide a water purifying agent therefor.;SOLUTION: In the erosion prevention method of the red soil or the like, an activated carbon is mixed with an eroded muddy water wherein the red soil or the like such as a Kunigami Mahji Soil, Jaagaru, Shimajiri mahji soil and Jaagaru is eroded by rail water or water to be mixed with suspended solids, and the particulate suspended solids are adsorbed. After the adsorbed suspended solids are primary stored and settled, and/or they are filtered to be water permeation by a filter medium to reduce the turbidity, the water is drained below the effluent standard. The water purifying agent is an agent for adsorbing and removing the particulate suspended solids from eroded muddy water wherein the red soil or the like is eroded by rain water or water. The water purifying agent is formed by applying heat treatment such as dry distillation, burnup, and thermal degradation to waste tire to be carbonized, and activating the separated and recovered carbonized material.
