PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read information of other media such as non-contact media than a magnetic card or a bar code, by a magnetic card reader which has been able to read only the magnetic card.;SOLUTION: A coil for electromagnetic induction is provided near a magnetic head in a magnetic card reader 1, A current in which data from an external device is frequency-modulated, time-modulated, or amplitude-modulated is made to flow in this coil 4. A change of magnetic field generated from the coil 4 by electromagnetic induction is received by the magnetic head 2 in the magnetic card reader.
