PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus, for the noninvasive quality evaluation of a mammal embryo, wherein the shape of the mammal embryo is observed, the oxygen consumption as an index of the metabolic activity of the mammal embryo is measured and the viability and the normality of each mammal embryo can be grasped at an early stage and precisely.;SOLUTION: In order to perform the noninvasive quality evaluation of the mammal embryo, the noninvasive quality evaluation apparatus is provided with (a) a microscope which observes the shape of a single mammal embryo, (b) an electrochemical microscope which measures the oxygen consumption of the single mammal embryo, (c) a measuring solution 3 which conforms to a culture solution, (d) a means in which a change in an oxygen concentration near the single embryo is quantitatively determined with high spatial resolution by using (a), (b) and (c), (e) a means in which the relationship between the size of the mammal embryo created in advance by (d) and the oxygen consumption as well as the later generation result of the mammal embryo are added up and (f) a means in which the normality of the mammal embryo is judged by (e).
