PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon polymer having excellent electric conductivity by dissolving fullerene molecules in a nonwater solvent, subjecting the soln. to electrolytic polymn. to produce a cyclic addition polymer of fullerene molecules. SOLUTION: A supporting electrolyte such as lithium perchlorate and fullerence molecules are dissolved in a mixture nonwater solvent 2 of a first solvent having low polarity such as toluene and a second solvent having high polarity and a large dielectric const. such as acetonitrile. The obtd. soln. is supplied in an electrolytlc cell 1, into which an inert gas 8 is introduced through a gas inlet tube 7 for bubbling to remove oxygen in the solvent 2. Then a specified DC current is applied on an electrode 4 and electrode 5 from a potential stud 9 and a referential electrode 6 to perform electrolytic polymn. to produce a thin film or precipitate of a cyclic addition polymer of fullerene on the negative electrode 5. The cyclic addition polymer is a spherical carbon polymer comprising a plurality of fullerene molecules expressed by Cn (n is an integer to form a spherical compd.) polymerized by 1,2-cycle bonds added to the cyclohexatrienyl position of the molecules.
